Booking acknowledgement
Dear Reader,
I refer to your completed booking of an appointment to use the Reading Room of the National Archives.
Please be advised that you must hold a valid current Reader’s Ticket in order to consult archives. If you do not hold such a ticket, you may apply for one in advance of your visit by completing our online Reader’s Ticket application form at https://www.nationalarchives.ie/visit-us/readers-tickets/apply-for-readers-ticket/. The application facility will allow you to upload the required supporting documents to verify your identity and place of address. Your Reader’s Ticket can be then collected when you visit.
Any archives you wish to see should ideally be ordered 5 days in advance of your visit, as some may have to be retrieved from off-site storage. If you know the reference citations of the archives that you wish to consult, please send an e-mail to our dedicated e-mail address of [email protected], specifying the reference numbers. The archives can then be retrieved from storage for you. If you do not know the reference numbers, there may be delays in the retrieval of the archives you wish to see. You are free to browse our finding aids in the Reading Room when you visit to identify archives relevant to your research and obtain their reference numbers. However, you may then have to make a further booking to return to use the archives.
Please note that our Genealogy Advisory Service will continue to operate as an e-mail enquiry service only. Any enquiries of a genealogical research nature should be sent to [email protected] and it is advised that you read further information at https://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy/free-genealogy-advisory-service/ and download and complete the questionnaire before making contact.
As we are currently providing a public service under radically altered circumstances from those that previously prevailed, we would appreciate if you could read the information leaflet at https://www.nationalarchives.ie/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/NAI-COVID-RR-Procedures-1.pdf to help you to prepare for your visit.
Intending researchers must ensure that they abide by current COVID-19 Government guidelines and restrictions in force, including those relating to travel. Please note that the wearing of face coverings in the National Archives is mandatory.
Yours sincerely,
The National Archives
A Léitheoir a chara,
Tagraím don choinne a chuir tú in áirithe linn chun úsáid a bhaint as an Seomra Léitheoireachta sa Chartlann Náisiúnta.
Bí ar an eolas nach mór duit Ticéad Léitheora reatha agus bailí a bheith agat chun breathnú ar na taifid. Mura bhfuil ticéad dá leithéid agat, is féidir leat iarratas a dhéanamh ar cheann roimh do chuairt tríd an bhfoirm iarratais do Thicéad Léitheora a chomhlánú ar líne ag https://www.nationalarchives.ie/visit-us/readers-tickets/apply-for-readers-ticket/. Tríd an tsaoráid iarratais, cuirfear ar do chumas na doiciméid tacaíochta riachtanacha a uaslódáil d’fhonn d’aitheantas agus seoladh baile a dhearbhú. Beidh tú in ann do Thicéad Léitheora a bhailiú ina dhiaidh sin nuair a thiocfaidh tú ar cuairt.
Ba chóir duit aon taifid ar mhian leat a fheiceáil a ordú 5 lá roimh cuairt a thabhairt toisc go bhféadfadh sé a bheith riachtanach roinnt taifead a fháil ó stóras lasmuigh den láthair. Más eol duit na huimhreacha tagartha do na taifid ar mhian leat breathnú iontu, seol ríomhphost chuig ár seoladh ríomhphoist tiomnaithe [email protected], agus sonraigh na huimhreacha tagartha. Beifear in ann na taifid a fháil as stóras duit ina dhiaidh sin. Mura bhfuil na huimhreacha tagartha ar eolas agat, d’fhéadfadh moilleanna bheith i gceist teacht ar na taifid ar mhian leat a fheiceáil. Tá lánchead agat na huirlisí aimsithe sa Seomra Léitheoireachta a bhrabhsáil nuair a thagann tú ar cuairt d’fhonn na taifid atá ábhartha do do thaighde a aithint agus na huimhreacha tagartha a bhaineann leo a fháil. Mar sin féin, d’fhéadfadh sé go mbeadh ort áirithint eile a dhéanamh chun filleadh arís le húsáid a bhaint as na taifid.
Tabhair ar aird go mbeidh ár Seirbhís Chomhairleach Ginealais ag feidhmiú i gcónaí mar sheirbhís fiosraithe trí ríomhphost amháin. Ba chóir fiosrú ar bith a bhaineann le taighde ginealaigh a sheoladh chuig [email protected] agus moltar duit eolas breise a léamh ag https://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy/free-genealogy-advisory-service/ agus an ceistneoir a íoslódáil agus a chomhlánú roimh theagmháil a dhéanamh.
Ós rud é go bhfuilimid ag cur seirbhís phoiblí ar fáil i gcúinsí atá athraithe go mór le hais mar a bhí roimhe seo, bheimis buíocht díot as an mbileog eolais a léamh ag https://www.nationalarchives.ie/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/NAI-COVID-RR-Procedures-1.pdf chun cuidiú leat ullmhú do do chuairt.
Ní mór dóibhsean a bhfuil sé i gceist acu taighde a dhéanamh a chinntiú go gcloífidh said leis na treoirlínte agus srianta reatha atá curtha i bhfeidhm ag an Rialtas i ndáil le COVID-19, lena n-áirítear iad sin a bhaineann le taisteal. Tabhair ar aird go bhfuil sé éigeantach maisc aghaidhe a chaitheamh sa Chartlann Náisiúnta.
Le dea-mhéin,
An Chartlann Náisiúnta.
