New staff: Senior Conservator Gretchen Allen
23.01.16

We’re pleased to announce that Gretchen Allen has joined our staff as a Senior Conservator. Gretchen trained in the USA and the UK before moving to Ireland in 2020. She worked with the National Conservation Service in London before spending four years on the Conservation and Collection Care team at Cambridge University Library. Upon moving to Ireland, she took up the role of Library Conservator at Maynooth University for three years before joining the team at the National Archives earlier this month.
In addition to her BA and MA in Conservation, Gretchen holds a PGCert in Antiquities Trafficking and Art Crime from the University of Glasgow. Her research interests within conservation focus on the role of the conservator in ethically approaching and mitigating the effects of criminal activities and historic injustices in the art and heritage sector. She is currently a member of both the Institute of Conservator-Restorers in Ireland (ICRI) and the Institute of Conservation (ICON).
We are delighted to welcome Gretchen and wish her the very best in her new role!
